DESCRIPTION

Starting salary for this position is: $3,075(Monthly)


Employees starting at the entry step of this range receive salary step advancement after six months and every 12 months thereafter. If an employee starting at anything higher than the entry step of the range, will have salary step advancement after 12 months and salary step advancement every 12 months thereafter until they reach the top of the salary range. Each salary step advancement will be approximately a 5% increase in salary.

The Community Colleges of Spokane is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Human Resources Consultant Assistant 1 in the Human Resources Division. 

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision of the Director of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), the Human Resources Consultant Assistant (HRCA) will perform assignments for the Human Resources Office of the Community Colleges of Spokane (CCS).

The CCS district is comprised of Spokane Community College and Spokane Falls Community College and satellite sites throughout eastern Washington.

This position will provide front desk reception coverage and support the essential HR functions of data entry and personnel file maintenance. This position will assist with special projects as assigned.

This is an in-training position that allows for growth in the Human Resources Consultant Assistant series. The series will progress from an HRCA 1 to HRCA 2 after demonstrated abilities and competencies throughout the HR Office.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform tasks using human resource information system software ctcLink (PeopleSoft) to include verifying service dates, name changes and updating locations. *
  • Maintain and input employment information into ctcLink and various stand-alone electronic databases. *
    • Update ctcLink to reflect new hire information, reallocation, promotion, transfer, temporary assignment, separation, retirement and other changes to current employee positions through an approved Position Request (PR) or Employee Action Notice (EAN).
    • Provide appropriate notices to employees, supervisors, payroll and budget departments. 
  • Maintain internal records in support of the faculty master contract. *
  • Maintain employment files and electronic records. *
    • Complete records disposition paperwork as needed to properly dispose of records that have met the retention period. 
  • Order office supplies and maintain an inventory of office supplies. Place orders and reconcile receipts and purchase card transactions monthly. *
  • Input information into various databases e.g., Excel and Access. Generate reports and correspondence as requested. *
  • Participate in staff meetings. *
  • Provide front desk reception coverage as assigned for the HR Office. *

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Human Resources laws, rules and regulations.
  • Two years clerical or support experience in Human Resources utilizing a HRIS.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Office Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field.

CONDITIONS/TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

TOTAL COMPENSATION$52,574 - $66,057.  

Total compensation is an estimate based upon adding the following amounts together:

  • Base compensation $36,900 - $48,864, plus
  • Current employer-paid health and related benefit contribution rates, plus
  • Median retirement fund contributions. 

The actual total will vary depending upon each employee's enrollment choices.

Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment. An offer of employment will not carry with it any responsibility or obligation on the part of the District to sponsor an H1-B visa. In addition, the Community Colleges of Spokane maintains a drug-free work environment and prohibits all smoking in the college buildings and state-owned vehicles. Must be able to successfully work in and promote a multicultural work and education environment.  

Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicants suitability and competence to perform in the position. Once an applicant is chosen for an interview, they are required to complete and submit a declaration regarding sexual misconduct and investigation per state law.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work is performed in a semi-open office setting with frequent interruptions and background noise.
  • Work is sedentary.
  • Frequent use of computers.
  • Work directly with clients/staff/students.
  • Frequent oral and auditory communication with others.
  • Move up to 25 lbs. occasionally.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Full-time schedule (12-months, 40-hours a week).
  • 6-month probationary period.
  • This position is overtime eligible.
  • Ability to travel locally. If using personal vehicle proof of driver's license and car insurance required.
  • Criminal background check is required.
