The primary purpose of this position is to oversee and lead the Surry-Yadkin Works FLEET Program. Additionally, will act as a liaison between Altec and educational institutions in Surry and Yadkin counties. A summary of the Surry-Yadkin Works FLEET Program is listed below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Surry-Yadkin Works FLEET Program Director will facilitate all aspects of the project goals and place students in the work-based learning school. This will include facilitating and coordinating between schools and Altec. Additionally, overseeing the retention of students, developing relationships with students and parents in order to guide students to success, and coordinating and overseeing support services between the business, community college, high schools, students, and their families. The Program Director will develop relationships with the students and parents in order to guide students to the successful completion of their high school diploma, work-based learning experience, and career-ready credentials.
 
The Program Director will oversee the project to ensure the creation of a successful and sustainable model of the program. They will be responsible for the grant management of the current Golden LEAF Foundation grant and possibly include grant writing for future funding.
 
The Program Director provides leadership, management, and supervision for all aspects of the Surry-Yadkin Works FLEET program.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledgeable of secondary and post-secondary education and training.
  • Knowledgeable of high school to college pathways.
  • Knowledgeable of business and industry needs.
  • Ability to facilitate and coordinate individual, small group, and large group meetings with minimal assistance; business meetings, advisory meetings, and student/parent meetings
  • Ability to balance the responsibilities between several school districts, multiple high schools, the community college, and industry partners.
  • Skilled in developing relationships and partnerships with multiple stakeholder groups
  • Ability to supervise.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business correspondence and reports.
  • Ability to articulate professional responses to common inquiries and/or complaints from students, faculty, staff, or the public at-large.
  • Ability to write using proper grammar and punctuation.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management, students, faculty, staff, or
  • the public at-large.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
  • Ability to apply and understand standard mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and other mathematical functions as appropriate to the divisions need for such skill.
REASONING ABILITY:
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
  • Understanding of and commitment to the unique nature and role of the College and
to the philosophy of the community college system.
  • Ability to independently and effectively organize and manage projects.
  • Ability to maintain discretion with confidential information.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or related field required.
  • Educational administrative or other relevant leadership experience required, career development
  • or related experience preferred, working knowledge of business/industry needs.
  • Applicant must be well-organized and a self-starter with ability to take initiative.

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
