Position description

The Environmental Studies minor program with John Muir College at UC San Diego is looking for a Lecturer with teaching experience in Environmental Studies, from a variety of perspectives: e.g., natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and policy. We are particularly interested in lecturers who can integrate topics in environmental justice and climate change with a qualitative approach to natural sciences; and lecturers who have a critical approach to the concept of "wilderness" from Indigenous and decolonial perspectives. Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
  • ABD or terminal degree in Environmental Studies, Ecology or other related fields.
  • Demonstrable experience or ability to work and engage with campus colleagues and students in an academic environment representing diverse backgrounds and interests.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
  • PhD and/or terminal degree in Environmental Studies, Ecology or other related fields.
Preferred qualifications
  • One year teaching experience in Environmental Studies, Ecology or other related fields within a University setting, encompassing a diverse range of perspectives such as humanities, social sciences, policy, and natural sciences, depending on the available positions for various courses.
