SFCC-Sedalia is looking for qualified candidates to teach online and on-ground courses for the Sociology department. Candidates must possess a Masters degree in Sociology if they wish to teach. Resumes and transcripts must be attached to application (unofficial transcripts permitted). Please share any experience with Learning Management Systems such as Canvas and Zoom. If theres not a current need, applicants will be placed into a pool for consideration as classes are added to schedule.


 
  • Course instruction in specific discipline at the Sedalia campus, which may include one to two classes each semester based on student demand and instructor availability
  • Follow Lead Instructors syllabus template and required learning outcomes
  • Utilize any required textbook(s) and/or publisher software (training provided)
  • Utilize technology (including Canvas LMS, Starfish, etc.)
  • Gradebook/feedback up-to-date within 1 week
  • Timely response to student emails
  • Meet attendance reporting and final grade entry deadlines
  • ILO/data reporting to Lead Instructor/Division as requested
  • Maintain communication with Lead Instructor
  • May require 1 visit to the Sedalia campus for a summer department meeting

 
  • Masters degree or minimum 18 graduate hours in desired field/discipline
  • Must be available to teach in-person at the Sedalia campus
  • Prior teaching experience at the college level preferred
  • Have a working knowledge of computers as a medium to manage and improve instruction.
  • Ability to interact with a broad range of people both on and off campus in a positive manner.
  • Show evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess an understanding of the range of needs community college students represent.
  • Possess a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college.
  • Willingness to improve instruction through professional development including pedagogy and technology.

 
This position pays $625 per credit hour.

  • Completed applications will include SFCC application, cover letter, resume and if transcripts. Employment will require a criminal background check at College Expense. Preference given to those with previous community college experience and in state residents.
