TITLE: Adjunct Instructor Theater 

DEPARTMENT: School of Arts, Communication and Humanities 

REPORTS TO: Chair, School of Arts, Communication and Humanities

EFFECTIVE DATE: January 2024 

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-time 

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Exempt 

PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB: 

Adjunct Instructor in Theater, with a minimum qualification of a Masters Degree (minimum 18 credit hours in Theater) in the field from an accredited institution, and commitment to teaching Theater in a Historically Black College and University (HBCU). 

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: 

Teaching courses in Theater, especially the general education class, Introduction to Theater, as defined by the Faculty Handbook. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

• Duties include but are not limited to teaching 1-2 general education courses in various formats including face-to-face and online modes. 

OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Applicants must submit a letter of application including graduate transcript(s), curriculum vitae, and three current letters of recommendation indicating teaching philosophy and adaptability to course modalities. Applicants will be accepted immediately until the position is filled. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: 

• Masters Degree in Theater, classroom teaching experience preferred. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position does not have any supervisory responsibility. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

• This position requires working in an office and/or classroom setting.
