Your Role:
As a Software Developer, you will play a critical role in:
- Developing Tools: Create computational tools and web UIs for efficient data browsing and visualisation.
- Building Infrastructure: Implement big data analysis solutions to support complex queries and visualisations.
- Pipeline Development: Design data-analysis pipelines for robust and reproducible processing of large datasets.
- Collaborative Reporting: Contribute to project reports and engage actively in team meetings.
What You Bring:
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of software engineering experience.
- Proficiency in general purpose programming languages such as Python, Java or C++
- Experience with web UI development (React, TypeScript or JavaScript).
- Strong understanding of databases (RDBMS, SQL, NoSQL) and experience with Linux, shell scripting, git, and ization.
- Good English communication skills; fluency in Finnish is not required.
Strong Assets:
- Experience with cloud computing (preferably Google Cloud).
- Knowledge of genetics, large-scale genotyping, sequencing data, and electronic health records (EHR).
- Familiarity with statistics, machine learning, and big data technologies.
- Knowledge of R statistical programming language

The position offers a contract until August 31, 2027, with a 6-month trial period. Salary is based on the University of Helsinki's salary system (YPJ), considering qualifications, experience, and performance.
