Adjunct Faculty - Automotive Technology
Job Description
Western Wyoming Community College (Western) invites applications for an adjunct instructor in automotive technology. This position will consist of teaching automotive courses for main campus in Rock Springs or at any other location as assigned. Responsibilities will include supporting Westerns Guiding Principles and upholding the mission of a comprehensive 2-year community college.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides quality instruction to students in assigned courses, including, but not limited to the 8 ASE areas: engine fundamentals, engine performance systems, brake systems, steering and suspension systems including wheel alignment, automatic transmissions, manual transmission and other drive train components, heating and air conditioning systems and electric and electronic control systems.

1. 2. Provides quality learning experiences for all students in accordance with their needs and abilities while maintaining the basic integrity of the courses standards and objectives.
3. States clear objectives and criteria in each course syllabus; follows the Curriculum Committees guidelines regarding course syllabi; integrates appropriate Western Goals for Student Success into each course; evaluates students performance in light of these objectives and criteria.
4. Designs and implements effective learning processes for students; provides feedback on student improvement in attaining the Colleges Learning Goals.
5. Learns to communicate clearly and effectively using the college network system, including Microsoft Office software, My Western, and Canvas; integrates learning with technology into the classroom as appropriate.
6. Refers students to the resources in the College Learning Center, Peer Tutor Center, Net Tutor, Library, Career and Placement Services, and Student Development Center.
7. Communicates regularly and in a timely manner with the department facilitator and the school chair as requested by either.
8. Maintains and repairs lab/education training equipment and facilities; designs and builds training modules as necessary.
9. Submits syllabi, student evaluations, grades, and other required information in a timely manner.
Qualifying Options:
1. Bachelors degree in automotive technology and two years of discipline-specific professional experience.
- Bachelors degree in related field and four years of discipline-specific professional experience.
- Associates degree in automotive technology or related degree and four years of discipline-specific professional experience.
- No degree but eight years of discipline-specific professional experience.
2. Comprehensive knowledge of the concepts, technologies, principles and practices of automotive technology.
3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and administrators.
4. Ability to exercise sound judgment in all facets of the student-teacher relationship and to teach a diverse group of community college students.
5. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
6. Ability to pursue ASE Certification for topics taught.
1. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor degree.
2. Experience in teaching automotive/diesel technology, preferably at a community college.
3. Experience using active approaches to learning; experience using alternative methods of learning, such as interactive software, internet, or individualized modular programs.
4. Active participation in relevant professional organizations.
