Job Description

Provide custodial services as assigned for academic programs, maintenance, and other college departments.

Specific Duties Include:

  • General cleaning ,as assigned, including vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing, windows, etc.

  • Responsible for checking and maintaining supplies in all restrooms and emptying trash, as needed

  • Responsible to collect items in recycling s in offices

  • Responsible for special projects during summer and breaks including stripping, waxing, scrubbing carpets, etc.

  • Assist in snow removal

  • Responsible to perform assigned role in emergency situations

 

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of

  • Different types of flooring/floor covering sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents and equipment.

  • Chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps sufficient to

  • appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely.

  • Methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs.

 

Ability to:

  • Follow simple oral and written instructions.

  • Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction.

  • Keep simple records.

 

Preferred Qualification 

  • Minimum of 2 years related work experience.

  • Experience in operating various custodial and grounds equipment (including forklift and snow removal equipment).

  • Boiler operators license.

  • Knowledge of basic emergency procedures.

  • Communication skills needed to report status of building security and repairs to supervisor.

 

Other Requirements

Move and/or transport items weighing up to 25 pounds on a regular basis

Frequently bend, lift, and maneuver items daily

 

Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)

Monday – Friday, 5:00am – 1:30pm

40 hours per week
