Primary Purpose:
Manages the planning and development of training projects for all staff positions of Design and Project Management (DPM) department with a focus on developing personnel for their current job needs as well as growth opportunities. Works with departmental subject matter experts (SME) to develop course curriculum and content.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the development of training modules for DPM personnel to equip staff in support of the creation of design work orders that are safe, reliable, cost-effective, and conforms to company standards, safety orders and governmental regulations.
- Create and manage a process to define and develop lesson plans and overall curriculum for in-class, online, and hybrid delivery considering content, level, audience and learning requirements. Manage training delivery plans, particularly in-class training based on design of a delivery approach (working on actual requirements of existing projects). This includes the training curriculum, schedules, calendaring, scheduling of training staff; support for training staff and feedback for training staff.
- Direct and review the work of third-party content developers. Facilitate the gathering of training content details from SME's and key stakeholders. This includes preparing pre- and post-assessment tools associated with training programs.
- Track and report on learning management system (LMS) compliance training utilization to include ESCMP, required refresher trainings, development programs for specific roles. Track and monitor annual DPM Training budget expenditures and forecasts for coming years.
- Assess learning needs of the DPM staff based on the evolution of job roles and responsibilities and employee knowledge and experience to maintain the learning program roadmap.
- Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Hybrid Schedule:
- Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow the employee to work onsite three days per week and remotely on the remaining workdays.
- Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree Education or business-related field of study or the equivalent training and experience.
- 2 years - Project management experience.
- Project management knowledge with organizing, scheduling, scoping, risk analysis, budget analysis, and communications management.
- Ability to demonstrate leadership through exhibition of Sempra's values.
- Ability to use teamwork to achieve department goals.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to use computer systems: SAP, DPSS, CISCO, GFMS, PM Works, GIS, AutoCAD, Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8 years - related experience with increasing responsibility in planning, design, and project management of electric distribution projects.
- 2 years - Experience as a Customer Project Planner.
- Ability to develop training materials in technical fields such as engineering design, drafting or construction trades; adept at facilitating training using adult learning techniques.
- Knowledge of business practices, job processes, engineering principles, OH, UG and Gas Standards, Design Manual, Service Planning Manual, Service Guide and California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) rules.
