The University of Miami has an exciting full time opportunity for a Sr. Writer, Executive Communications in Miami, Florida.                                                                                                                                

The Sr. Writer, Executive Communications (A) serves as the strategic content developer and principal writer for executive communications, serving the President and CEO, University of Miami and President, University of Miami Health System, CEO of the University Health System and EVP for Academic Affairs and Provost at the University of Miami. The incumbent in this role executes a comprehensive executive communications strategy that authentically reflects the executive leaders voice and vision. Crafts content to support institutional priorities and is strategically deployed across earned, owned, and social media channels to reach key audiences.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                                          

  •  Serves as the primary content creator for executive leaders, producing speeches, talking points, scripts, leadership messages, media quotes and social media copy as appropriate, for both internal and external engagements.          

  • Leads the execution of an annual executive communications plan, aligned with strategic priorities and responsive to emerging opportunities.

  • Translates institutional goals into compelling narratives and storytelling that elevate the Universitys visibility and impact.

  • Prepares briefing materials for executive communications opportunities and engagements, ensuring leaders are equipped with clear, concise, and contextually relevant information.

  • Collaborates routinely with internal stakeholders to gather timely updates and insights that inform content development.

  • Ensures content is tailored to the appropriate audience and distributed through the most effective channels—digital, print, web, video, and social media.

  • Partners with internal editorial, writing, social media and production teams to deliver integrated communications experiences.

  • Coordinates the production of visual and multimedia assets, including presentations, reports, and event materials, ensuring alignment with brand standards.

  • Provides on-site support for strategic events, overseeing the presentation and execution of executive communications elements.

  • Manages production timelines and ensures the timely delivery of high-quality communications assets.

  • Works closely with and reports to University Communications, ultimately reporting to the enterprise Chief Marketing, Communications and Digital Officer, and work collaboratively with the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                         

Education:

Bachelors degree in relevant field required

Certification and Licensing:

Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements

Experience:

Minimum 8 years of relevant experience required

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.

  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.

  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.

  •  Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
